China News Service, April 7 – According to reports, a recent missile attack on Iran’s embassy in Syria has led to accusations from Iran against Israel for orchestrating the strike, with Tehran vowing retaliation. Israeli media reported that 28 Israeli embassies and consulates have been temporarily closed due to concerns over Iranian reprisals.

On April 1, the consular section of Iran’s embassy in Syria was hit by a missile, killing at least 13 people, including a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Following the attack, multiple countries and international organizations condemned Israel’s alleged involvement.

The Israeli military declined to comment on whether it carried out the attack. However, The New York Times, citing unnamed Israeli officials, reported that Israel acknowledged responsibility for the strike.

On April 2, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a statement promising “punishment” for what he called Israel’s criminal actions. On April 6, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Hossein Bagheri stated that Iran would retaliate against the attack on its diplomatic mission, declaring that “Tehran will decide how and when to act.” He further attributed primary responsibility for the incident to the United States, asserting that Washington must be held accountable.

Separately, The Jerusalem Post reported on April 5 that Israel temporarily closed 28 embassies and consulates due to “threats from Iran and its proxies.”

CNN also reported on April 5 that a senior U.S. government official described an Iranian attack as “inevitable.” The U.S. is currently on “high alert” and actively preparing for potential “major” attacks by Iran targeting Israeli or American assets, which could occur as early as next week.
