The Trade Volume Between China and France Has Increased Nearly 800 Times Over the Past 60 Years

  Xinhua News, Beijing, May 9 (Reporter Xie Xiyao) – On May 9, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong announced at a regular press conference that trade between China and France has increased nearly 800 times over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, reaching $78.9 billion in 2023. China is now Frances largest trading partner outside the EU, while France is one of Chinas major trading partners within the EU.

 

  He Yadong noted that over the past 60 years, bilateral investment between China and France has totaled more than $26 billion, placing their cooperation among the top between China and EU nations. More than 2,000 French companies operate in China, reflecting the strong symbiotic relationship that has developed between the two economies.

 

  Recently, the Ministry of Commerce and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening SME Cooperation to create a better business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises in both countries. The sixth meeting of the China-France Entrepreneurs Committee was successfully held, with over 200 entrepreneurs participating. During the meeting, businesses from both sides signed 15 cooperation agreements in fields such as finance, nuclear energy, aviation, manufacturing, and new energy.

 

  Moving forward, the Ministry of Commerce will work closely with relevant French authorities to implement the key agreements reached by the two heads of state and advance bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.
